England boss Thomas Tuchel has unveiled his first squad of the 2025-26 season, handing senior debuts to Tottenham defender Djed Spence and Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
This is as the Three Lions gear up for their World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.
The 24-man list, announced on Tuchel’s 52nd birthday, features a mix of youth and experience.
Spence and Anderson have both impressed at the start of the campaign and earned a promotion from the Under-21s setup, where they were part of Lee Carsley’s European title-winning side.
“There’s no better motivation for young players than knowing the pathway is open.
“Djed and Elliot have shown real quality and maturity — they’ve earned this chance,” Tuchel said according to a statement on the team’s website.
England, who currently top their qualifying group after victories over Albania, Latvia and Andorra, will host Andorra at Villa Park on Saturday, September 6, before traveling to Belgrade to face Serbia on Tuesday, September 9.
The squad also sees a welcome return for John Stones, back after an injury-hit year, alongside recalls for Marcus Rashford and Adam Wharton. Tuchel praised their resilience, adding: “It’s good to have players like John and Marcus back. Experience is vital in these campaigns.”
The team will gather at St George’s Park next week to begin preparations following the weekend’s domestic fixtures.
