In the build-up to the forthcoming Anambra South Senatorial bye-election scheduled for August 16, Hon. Sir Azuka Okwuosa, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidate, held an interactive session with the harmonized structure of Anambra South women. The meeting, which took place amid enthusiastic support, served as a strategic engagement aimed at mobilizing grassroots women leaders across the zone.
Addressing the women, Okwuosa passionately appealed for their total support in delivering him victory at the polls. He emphasized that winning the senatorial seat would pave the way for the APC to make significant inroads into the state ahead of the November governorship election, which he described as “a walk away” if the women rally behind him now.
In a major policy commitment, Okwuosa promised that, when elected, 50% of all appointments under his leadership would be reserved for women, 40% for youths, and 10% for experienced and elderly citizens. This, he said, is a deliberate effort to promote inclusivity, gender balance, and youth empowerment in political leadership.
He further urged the women to see his candidacy as a continuation of the developmental legacy of the late Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, stressing that supporting him is the best way to sustain the vision and progress the late lawmaker started for Anambra South.
“The legacy of our late brother, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, must not die. The only way to preserve it is to deliver me/ the APC on August 16. Together, we can build on his good works and do more,” Okwuosa declared.
The women, in turn, expressed their readiness to mobilize support across all local government areas within the zone, assuring Okwuosa of massive turnout and victory at the polls.
