President Bola Tinubu has departed Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for Abuja, Nigeria.
The San Marino-registered BBJ (REG: T7-NAS), conveying the President, departed Galeão International Airport at 12:50 pm (local time), 04:50 pm Nigerian time.
It concludes his two-nation tour of Saint Lucia and Brazil in the past 14 days.
Tinubu was in Saint Lucia for a state visit from June 29 to July 4. Afterwards, he proceeded to Brazil for the 17th meeting of the Global South and the Emerging Economies bloc, which ran from Saturday, July 5 to Monday, July 7.
Since assuming office in May 2023, the President has embarked on at least 41 foreign trips, visiting no fewer than 28 countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Asia.
He has travelled to France at least six times, making it his most frequent destination. The United Kingdom follows with four visits, while the United Arab Emirates has received him thrice. He has also made two visits each to Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Germany, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Guinea-Bissau. Other countries he has visited once include India, Kenya, Qatar, China, Senegal, the Netherlands, Benin Republic, Chad, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Brazil, the USA, and the Vatican.
The trips span ceremonial visits, economic summits, diplomatic missions and other high-level bilateral engagements.
Tinubu is expected in Abuja at 02:50 am Sunday.
