The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu, has advised Corps members to shun social media frivolous behaviors throughout their service year and even beyond.
The DG gave this advice on Wednesday, while addressing the newly mobilised, 2025 Batch A, stream 2 Corps members, who are undergoing orientation course at the NYSC camp, Yikpata in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
He urged them to use social media responsibly and avoid the frivolities side of it.
According to the NYSC boss, the management of the scheme understands the relevance of the social media in this contemporary time.
He, however, cautioned that discretion must be exercised in its usage.
“Avoid taking some issues, which can be easily resolved with people around you, avoid abuse of social media, which the consequences can be very grievous now and even later in the future”, he counseled.
He earlier congratulated the Corps members for the successful completion of their various academic programmes in their respective institutions which subsequently qualified them for national service.
Nafiu urged them to spend the one year NYSC programme to prepare for the leadership roles which they will play in future.
The DG also urged them to be diligent, dedicated and loyal in rendering their services to their fatherland, Nigeria.
According to him, they should imbibe the patriotic zeal and be ready to give their best while on national service.
In his welcome address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Onifade Olaoluwa, described the visit of the director general as encouraging adding that “it will go a very long way to boost the morale of the Corps members who were already enthusiastic to serve their fatherland.
He disclosed that a total of 2,290 Corps members, were undergoing orientation exercise in kwara State.
