The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denounced a circulating scam that falsely claims to offer financial empowerment from President Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement by Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the fraudulent message asks for individuals’ banking information in exchange for a supposed N85,000 payment. The message also encourages recipients to call a specific phone number to access the funds.
The APC’s statement, titled “Scam alert- Beware of fake ‘Bola Tinubu Empowerment’ disbursement message call,” reads: “This is a scam, and we urge members of the public to disregard the message and refrain from calling the posted number or any numbers associated with the message.”
The party has called for swift action from security agencies to identify and prosecute the scammers. The APC emphasized that neither the party nor President Tinubu has authorized any such empowerment programme.
