With Easter festivities underway, Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered robust security measures to guarantee the safety of citizens.
According to a statement from ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP extended Easter greetings and encouraged Christians to reflect on the season’s significance.
Police Commissioners and Assistant Inspectors-General have been told to ramp up patrols, intelligence work, and surveillance. Personnel will be strategically stationed at churches, recreational venues, highways, and crowded areas to deter crime.
Egbetokun emphasized the need for public cooperation, asking citizens to share relevant information with security agencies. He also warned against reckless driving and urged moderation in celebrations to ensure a safe Easter for all.
