The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully concluded the screening exercise for aspirants ahead of its 2026 State Congress in Kwara State, with Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo chairing the National Congress five-man screening committee.

The screening, which took place on March 3, 2026, was conducted in Ilorin under what participants described as a peaceful and transparent atmosphere. Aspirants seeking positions in the party’s State Working Committee were screened by the committee led by Onunkwo.

Upon arrival in the state, the committee paid a courtesy visit to Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state. The governor and party leadership welcomed the team and expressed appreciation for their national assignment.

Speaking during the exercise, Engr. Onunkwo assured aspirants and party stakeholders that the committee would remain impartial and strictly guided by the party’s constitution and the congress guidelines.

“We are here to ensure fairness to all aspirants. Our work will be guided by the constitution of the party and the laid-down guidelines for the congress,” he said, while also thanking the governor, party leaders, and supporters in the state for their cooperation.

Governor AbdulRazaq, in his remarks, commended the screening committee for its professionalism and encouraged members to feel at home in Ilorin. He also praised Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for efforts aimed at strengthening and stabilizing the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to party stakeholders, the exercise ended without any reports of unjust disqualification or petitions against the committee, with many describing the process as peaceful, credible, and orderly.

The successful screening exercise is seen as a significant step in preparations for the APC’s state congress and its broader political activities leading up to the 2027 elections.
