The Nigerian Air Force has received commendation for its professionalism and operational excellence from the Chief of the South African Air Force, Lieutenant General Wiseman Simo Mbambo, who paid an official visit to the Headquarters Tactical Air Command in Makurdi on Monday, October 28, 2025.
The visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing professional cooperation, and deepening regional airpower synergy between both nations.
In a statement shared on X by the Nigerian Air Force on Wednesday, the SAAF Chief praised the NAF’s dedication to innovation, discipline, and strategic growth, describing it as a testament to Africa’s capacity for homegrown airpower development.
He said, “The Nigerian Air Force has demonstrated remarkable professionalism and growth, reflecting Africa’s capacity to develop its own airpower solutions. Collaboration between our Air Forces is vital to building a safer and more secure continent.”
Earlier, Lieutenant General Mbambo was accompanied by the NAF Chief of Operations, Air Vice Marshal Francis Edosa, and received by the Air Officer Commanding TAC, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Obeya, alongside other senior officers.
The delegation was briefed on the Command’s structure, functions, and contributions to Nigeria’s air defence and internal security operations.
Responding, Air Vice Marshal Obeya described the visit as “a symbol of unity and professional solidarity between two leading Air Forces on the African continent.”
He added that the engagement would further open opportunities for joint training, indigenous technological collaboration, and enhanced operational cooperation to tackle emerging security challenges across Africa.
The visit, which featured static and aerial displays at the 131 Engineering Group, underscored the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between Nigeria and South Africa — a partnership rooted in shared commitment to peace, progress, and continental security.
