A member of the House of Representatives representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Remi Oseni, on Saturday, described President Bola Tinubu’s student loan scheme as “a pathway to liberation” for millions of young Nigerians seeking access to quality education and a better future.
He made this known during the endorsement rally for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his re-election bid in 2027, held at Apata, in the Ido Local Government Area of the state.
The rally, which drew thousands of artisans, traders, youth groups, and political stakeholders from across the state, also marked one year of grassroots mobilisation by ROCOF, a movement Oseni founded to champion progress, equity, and empowerment for workers and traders in the state.
Oseni said, “I became who I am today because I benefited from free education. That is why I am deeply moved by Tinubu’s student loan scheme. It is one of the most visionary policies of this administration, a gateway to freedom for any Nigerian youth who desires education but is limited by finances.”
The lawmaker noted that the scheme would help bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, enabling children from humble backgrounds to access higher education and pursue their dreams without being crippled by economic hardship.
“It is about enlightenment. The ability to read and write liberates you from the prison of ignorance. That is what this student loan policy offers, the chance for every willing Nigerian youth to break free and become productive citizens.”
The lawmaker, therefore, commended Tinubu for prioritising human capital development despite the nation’s economic challenges, describing the initiative as a legacy policy that would shape Nigeria’s future.
“The scheme is not just an education policy; it is a social reformation strategy. It is about ensuring that no Nigerian child is denied the chance to learn because of their financial background. For this, we must appreciate and support the President.
“No amount of intimidation or harassment, direct or indirect, can stop this movement (ROCOF). We are a covenant of destiny, a vanguard of progress, and a force that believes in the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The lawmaker emphasised that ROCOF’s mission was not only political but also developmental, focusing on empowering artisans, traders, women, and youth across the state.
“Our goal is to liberate our people not through violence or propaganda, but through empowerment, education, and economic opportunities. We are not just talking about occupying offices; we are talking about transforming lives.”
Oseni, however, dispelled rumours linking him to a governorship ambition, stressing that his current priority is the success of Tinubu’s administration and the victory of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State in 2027.
“For me, this is not about personal ambition. I have not told anyone that I’m running for governorship. Everyone assumes it because of the work we are doing, but my immediate goal is to deliver one million votes for Tinubu in 2027 and to return APC to Agodi Government House,” he explained.
