Manchester United will welcome Sunderland to Old Trafford this Saturday in what could prove a pivotal moment for both clubs in the 2025–26 Premier League season.

United come into the match under growing scrutiny after their 3–1 defeat to Brentford last weekend. The loss intensified pressure on manager Ruben Amorim, who has insisted he will not step down despite criticism.

Ahead of the fixture, Amorim reaffirmed his commitment to the club’s tactical setup, defending his 3-4-2-1 system against calls to change.

Sunderland, newly promoted this season, have impressed early on and are currently sitting at sixth on the table after losing just once, winning three and drawing two this season

United have received a boost with winger Amad Diallo returning to first-team training after a brief absence.

Casemiro is also expected to be eligible again after serving a suspension.

However, United will likely miss Noussair Mazraoui, and long-term absentees like Lisandro Martínez remain unavailable.

On the Sunderland side, they remain without Reinildo, serving a suspension. Manager Régis Le Bris has also confirmed the absence of Habib Diarra, Dennis Cirkin, Romaine Mundle, Aji Alese, and Leo Hjelde.

Kick-off is at 3:00 p.m. at Old Trafford.
