As the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election draws closer, political tensions continue to rise, with accusations, counter-accusations, and personal attacks dominating public discourse.
Political strategist and consultant, Dr. Kenneth Anozie, has condemned the growing trend of propaganda and character assassination among supporters of rival camps, warning that such rhetoric distracts from issue-based campaigns that should define the election.
In a strongly worded statement, Dr. Anozie, who openly declared his support for incumbent Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, cautioned against malicious attacks targeted at Senator Uche Ekwunife, describing them as falsehoods that will never stand.
Quoting examples from American politics, he noted that while rhetoric is part of campaigns globally, democracy thrives only when politics focuses on issues, not insults. He recalled a disturbing social media post by a political aide threatening to “damage Uche Ekwunife’s career” and described it as reckless, sinful, and unbecoming of anyone in governance.
“No human can destroy the political career of Uche Ekwunife. She is a child of grace and destiny. Governor Soludo himself will not condone lies and innuendos in the name of politics,” he stated.
Dr. Anozie, who disclosed his long-standing personal and family ties with Ekwunife, narrated her journey from humble beginnings as the 10th of 11 children, her career rise in the banking sector, and her subsequent political accomplishments. He credited her with providing jobs, scholarships, and community projects that have benefited hundreds across Anambra, including outside her constituency.
He emphasized that while he does not support the APC ticket she currently represents, he would not stand by and watch her legacy smeared by propaganda.
“Iyom Uche Ekwunife is a golden fish, a distinguished senator, and a woman of accomplishment. Any further attack on her will not be tolerated. Let campaigns be issue-driven, not destructive,” he warned.
As campaigns intensify ahead of the polls, Dr. Anozie called on political actors and their supporters to focus on policies, programs, and the future of Anambra State, urging restraint and maturity in the use of language.
