The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Sokoto State, Mr. Umar Yusuf Garba, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional synergy for credible elections.
The visit, which took place at the Police Command Headquarters in Sokoto, underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between electoral and security agencies in delivering peaceful and transparent polls.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, on Thursday, Garba praised the Sokoto Police Command for its consistent support in maintaining peace and security, particularly during election periods.
“The partnership between INEC and the police is fundamental to public trust in our electoral process. We appreciate the commitment of the police and hope to deepen this cooperation as we prepare for future elections”, Garba said.
Responding, Musa reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to support INEC’s operations. He assured that the police would continue to provide robust security for electoral officers, materials, and voters before, during, and after elections.
The meeting ended with goodwill exchanges and a symbolic group photograph, reflecting the shared resolve of both institutions to safeguard democracy through effective collaboration and security preparedness.
