The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, Ph.D., on 26th April 2025, intervened in a land dispute at Ogu Clan, Ubarusioye Village, Nando. He also sought the input and suggestions of relevant stakeholders to find a lasting solution and prevent further escalation of the crisis.
During a meeting with the disputing parties at the State Police Command Headquarters, Awka, the CP emphasized the importance of community-led solutions and collaborative problem-solving in resolving land disputes and fostering peaceful coexistence.
Following the engagement, all parties signed an undertaking not to cause any further breach of the peace pending the outcome of the stakeholders’ resolutions.
Among those in attendance were: Mr. Alexander Nwabueze — Chairman of Umunnamoke Kindred; Dr. Chijioke Ifejika — Chairman of Adagbe-Ogu Kindred; Mr. Ebenezer Chibuzor — representing the Chairman of Ukwuorji Kindred; the Divisional Police Officer, Otuocha; and other members of the village.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as part of its operational strategy under the recently launched Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping, which aims to enhance public safety through collaboration with other security agencies in the state.
