From April 17 to 19, the Nigerian Red Cross Society’s Anambra branch, supported by the European Union, distributed dignity kits and hygiene supplies to flood victims in Ogbaru, Anambra West, and Ayamelum LGAs.
This intervention followed the severe flooding that struck the state in 2024.
Kingsley Okoye, Branch Secretary, highlighted the goal: “The primary goal of the programme was to provide essential dignity kits to vulnerable individuals and families affected by the 2024 flood, helping to restore a sense of dignity, hygiene, and comfort in the aftermath of the disaster.” The relief effort was carried out by a team of officials and volunteers who reached hundreds of affected residents.
The dignity kits contained hygiene essentials designed to support daily living, with special attention to women and girls. Recipients expressed deep gratitude for the timely assistance. Okoye noted that the initiative brought renewed hope and demonstrated the power of humanitarian collaboration.
He also expressed thanks to the European Union for funding the project and reiterated the Red Cross’s commitment to aid vulnerable communities in times of crisis.
