Labour Party Chairman in Ogun State, Apagun Olaolu Samuel, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to start planning its exit from power ahead of the 2027 elections. During a press conference in Abeokuta, Samuel pointed to worsening insecurity, hunger, and economic hardship as reasons Nigerians are losing faith in the APC-led administration.
Samuel stated, “The Labour Party is set to take over governance from the APC-led federal government in 2027 because Nigerians are already hungry for the LP.” He emphasized that the LP remains the only viable opposition, noting, “Today in Nigeria, there is no opposition party except Labour Party. You all know what is happening in the PDP now, how the powers that be have infiltrated the party.”
He highlighted the Supreme Court’s recent decision recognizing Senator Nenadi Usman’s caretaker committee as crucial for party unity and stability. Samuel also welcomed recent defections from the PDP, saying, “Our door is open, and our arms are wider open to accept them.”
Samuel projected greater success for the LP in the next election, referencing the over 6 million votes received in 2023 and predicting a tripling of that number in 2027. He concluded by stressing the importance of unity and rebuilding within the party, urging members to “move forward with purpose and unity.”
