The Nigerian Presidency has dismissed as baseless the circulating reports that Vice President Kashim Shettima was denied access to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Vice President, the reports are “mischievous” and “totally fabricated.”
The statement titled ‘Re: Mischievous Report On Access To The Presidential Villa By Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON’ clarified that the claim of military personnel barring the Vice President from entering the Villa is false. “For the record, nothing of the sort ever happened,” Nkwocha said.
He accused the sources of these rumors of attempting to create division between President Bola Tinubu and his deputy. “These fairy tales they publish serve no purpose beyond mischief and distraction,” the statement added.
Nkwocha also referenced a similar falsehood earlier in the week about campaign posters with Tinubu’s image, which was also debunked. He reassured Nigerians that Shettima remains committed to his responsibilities and urged the public and media to rely on verified information, affirming that falsehoods will not weaken the Tinubu administration’s mandate.
