Ahead of the Easter celebrations, the Lagos State Police Command has ramped up security by deploying a large contingent of police personnel and specialized tactical units across the state.
Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh directed the deployment of conventional officers and elite forces including the Police Mobile Force, Rapid Response Squad, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal squad.
The police confirmed that all strategic locations, including known crime hotspots, are being manned to “prevent crime and criminality” and to guarantee “hitch-free Easter celebrations.” Churches, celebration venues, and public spaces with expected large gatherings will receive special policing attention.
The command is supporting officers with armored vehicles and patrol cars to enhance operational effectiveness. The deployment is part of a broader strategy to prevent security breaches and maintain order throughout the Easter period. Jimoh stressed the importance of synergy with other security agencies and instructed officers to act professionally while respecting human rights.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant, report suspicious behavior, and cooperate with law enforcement. Parents were also advised to caution their wards against any disruptive acts.
The police chief extended warm Easter wishes to all Christian faithful in Lagos.
