Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has promised to immortalise Christian Chukwu, the former Super Eagles and Enugu Rangers coach, who died at 74 on April 12, 2025, at the Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu.
While visiting the bereaved family, Mbah assured them they were not alone in their grief. “This loss is not just theirs; this is our collective loss; we are going to be with them all through this period of grief,” he said.
The governor praised Chukwu’s lifelong commitment to football, calling him a symbol of resilience and inspiration to countless young Nigerians. Mbah also signed the condolence register and was joined by key state officials during the visit.
In addition, the government opened condolence registers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and all Enugu State Liaison Offices nationwide, underscoring the widespread impact of Chukwu’s legacy.
