The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has announced key appointments within his royal administration, naming a new chief of staff and special adviser.
The development was revealed on Wednesday by Rotimi Osuntola, the monarch’s former chief of staff, in a statement titled ‘Re: My New Role as Special Adviser to His Imperial Majesty, The Alaafin of Oyo’.
Osuntola, who served as chief of staff from January to early April 2025, has now been elevated to special adviser.
“It is with deep humility that I formally acknowledge and accept the new responsibility bestowed upon me by His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, The Alaafin of Oyo, as Special Adviser to the Throne. It’s indeed a privilege to serve the throne of Oyo in any capacity that His Majesty deems fit,” Osuntola stated.
He congratulated his successor, Mr. Bayo Ajibade, and called for support for the new chief of staff, reiterating his commitment to the progress of Oyo and Yoruba land.
